Designed to provide smooth control of fiber optic cable tension during the stringing operations. Cable is positioned directly from the drum, and controlled braking is provided via a gearbox to the hydraulic variable tension controls.
A diesel engine drives the cooling system and provides the useful pull back facility. A disc brake provides the secondary holding facility. The unit is trailer mounted and has a powered hydraulic drum lifting facility (auxiliary winches can be fitted if required).
The drum drive is taken via the gearbox through a chain drive to the high quality hydraulic pump. The flow is controlled by a fully balanced flow compensated control valve, to provide smooth surge-free control of tension.
